Very

"Very" is I think derived from Latin "Veritas" meaning truth, so when people say "very" all they mean is truly or really, and so the word ends up acting merely as a small interjection for emphasis. Because after all, why would you need to assert truly really very that what you are saying is really very truly the veritable truthful reality? Words having meaning is dependent on trust. Perhaps language quirks like this betray deep-seeded societal rot and these weak spots are the hooks for nefarious political actors to latch onto in their attempts to mislead us. Idk. Sometimes cadence is served by a few extra syllables, but my gut feeling is that "very" is a very empty filler word.
