The unexpected can rattle or delight me depending on the circumstances. As much as I can be a create of habit afraid of change, I also crave novelty like many of us folks here in the internet age. They say to "expect the unexpected". Who said that? IDK. What does that mean? Nothing really maybe. It's an impossible ask to "expect the unexpected." Pure dumbassery. What you can do is to steel yourself against misfortune using certain principles like they do in AlcoholicsAnonymous. "Lord give me the strength to change what I can and the wisdom to bear what I cannot," or something like that. These stem from the teachings of the AncientGreek Stoics, who heavily influenced Christianity and continue to influence philosophy to this day, having recently experienced a so-called revival of sorts probably stemming from a desire of the average present day person to find a simpler system of meaning in their life amidst the whirlwind barrage of information we are forced to trudge through on the daily. As for the pleasant aspect, I find it happens all of the time to me, something pleasantly unexpected, perhaps because I am pessimistic by default. The unexpected may also be neutral, usually resulting in confusion.
Perhaps I will update this page as I encounter the unexpected in my daily life.
