I was taking a long time waking up, having hit my head on the boardwalk floor/ground. The slash here utilized acts as a cheeky reference or inside joke with my wife. We'd correct each other when one of us misspoke, the idea of it all being that if you're inside it's called the floor and if you're outside it's called the ground. As with many legal puzzles regarding the definition of terms, on a long enough timeline exceptions arise to challenge the aplicability of a set precedent. I had raised the point to her recently saying, "Honey, I know we are outside but this surface beneath us is a man-made construction and therefore it must be classified as "floor" rather than "ground". So when I awoke on the boardwalk at the bottom of that high, tall staircase, I thought "floor/ground" as I came to consciousness, because the matter had not been settled yet. My wife was nowhere in sight. She had pushed me.
